Description of innovation
QNA Technology specializes in the development of quantum dots that are unique in the world, do not contain heavy metals and emit blue light. There is currently no such material that meets commercial expectations on the market. The blue color of quantum dots is the most desired color by the display industry and is used in medical and lighting applications. QNA.dots can also be used in the LED lighting market as well as in photovoltaics. QNA Technology has a chance to play an important role by offering complementary materials to those currently available on the market. The key here will be the ability to produce dots with appropriate parameters, stability and scaling potential. The company is popular with the largest global display producers and technology companies. This shows that quantum dots, especially those emitting blue light, have great business potential. According to the calculations of the consulting company Mordor Intelligence, the quantum dot market was valued at USD 652.2 million in 2020. and it is expected that by 2026 will be worth over $ 4.4 billion. A strong R&D department is simultaneously developing new methods of synthesizing the above-mentioned dots and new protocols for their modification. Currently, we are mainly focusing on the project to synthesize high-quality blue-emitting cadmium-free quantum dots.
The company has two patents registered with the Polish Patent Office concerning the methods of synthesis and modification of nanocrystals (exclusive rights numbers: PL 408279, PL 407146) and is in the process of developing further patent applications.
Blue light is part of the basic Red – Green – Blue color palette that allows you to create any color you like, including white. Therefore, blue is crucial for creating high-quality images (displays, lighting, projectors) or high-performance white LEDs.
Application
Quantum dots are the best solution when we need materials that emit, absorb or convert light with high optical quality, good stability (durability) while obtaining additional device functionalities, such as flexibility, printability and transparency. Quantum dots are used, among others on the market of displays, photovoltaics, biosensors or printed electronics externally.
Blue quantum dots can also be used in lighting applications. QDs LED allows the construction of surface lighting, flexible while maintaining high efficiency with the ability to adjust colors. QDs LEDs are also light, thin and transparent. QDs LED are likely to find applications in completely new lighting projects as well.
Cooperation model
Project partnership – substantive support, preparation of content for use on the portal, participation in the work on the report on cooperation between Wrocław’s business and science.
QNA Technology
QNA is a producer of quantum dots and quantum inks. We specialize in the design and manufacturing of colloidal semiconductor nanostructures and the modification of their surfaces. We offer both quantum dots (QNA.dots) as well as quantum dot inks (QNA.ink). Using our technology and knowledge, we want to become a world leader in the production of colloidal semiconductor nanostructures and inks based on semiconductor nanostructures. We want our products to contribute to the development of future and current advanced technologies. We want to leave our mark on the history of technology.
